The Royal Ploughing Day (continued)
2009-05-12
This year of the Ox of the 2553 Buddhist era, the Ploughing Day started on Saturday to end up Tuesday 12 May 2009. According to the royal instructions, His Excellency Mr Din Monty, President of the High Supreme Court, fulfilled Sdach Meak’s duties, and his spouse those of Preah Mehour. Tuesday morning was officially marked by the beginning and the end of the ritual ploughing ceremony. Sdach Meak et Preah Mehour were giving sacred objects to former Cambodian Kings and Queens, to the throne divinities, while praying for the success of Sdech Meak and Preah Mehour for their ploughing duties. His Majesty the King gave His blessings to Sdach Meak and Preah Mehour for the next harvest. Sdach Meak et Preah Mehour received Bakus’blessings before making a complete tour of the courtyard three times and so began the royal ploughing.
