Royal audience with professor Beat Richner

On 2 February 2010, HM the King granted an audience to Professor Beat Richner, founding director of Kantha Bopha children’s hospital.
Professor Beat Richner outlined the hospital’s situation and activities in 2009. Kantha Bopha Children’s hospital in Phnom Penh received 48,000 child patients and the hospital in Siem Reap 44,000.
From 2004 to 2009, the total expenditure was 34 million usd much of it for construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing ones. 26 million usd was used for maternal health care and surgery.
Professor Beat Richner expressed his heartfelt thanks to HM the King’s Father and HM the Queen Mother for their unwavering support for the hospitals and their assistance in furthering improvments for public health.
